6-17-20 THOUGHTS

Our study tonight in the Zoom class will cover the first eleven verses of Philippians 2.
I will borrow one verse for our thoughts.
Php 2:8   Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
The idea of God coming to meet us where we are is shown in Luke 15:20b “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.”
We sing...  “Heaven came down and glory filled my soul.”
Isa 50:5-6   The Lord GOD has opened My ear; And I was not disobedient Nor did I turn back.  6  I gave My back to those who strike Me, And My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard; I did not cover My face from humiliation and spitting.
Isa 53:3-7  He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4   Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5  But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. 6  All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him. 7  He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth.
2Cor 8:9   For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.
Read Heb 2:9-18   It begins   “ But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.
Heb 12:2   fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
The picture of GOD COMING DOWN to us in Jesus is AWESOME.
COST and LOVE!  PERFECT LOVE!
1John 4:18   There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
Surely THIS LOVE WAS PERFECT LOVE!

My Prayer:
Oh God of heaven who came to earth in Jesus, thank you.  We are ever without strength and power.  You, Oh God, by your grace and mercy and might, have given our eternity meaning. The picture you have drawn for us of salvation in Christ Jesus, is just awesome Father.  The things that come to us from that event are perfect to supply our needs.  Draw us closer to you with the passing of each day.

                 In Jesus name               Amen
